About the school package...
Where does the activity take place?
With the Planet VR school package, there’s no need to lift a finger! The virtual reality setup is fully portable, meaning the team is able to come directly to your school site for the visit.
How are your packages structured?
Our session types and lengths are tailored to your school’s group sizes. Planet VR is typically able to cater to a year group of ~60 pupils in one day, but multiple day visits are available for larger group sizes.
As an example, a year group of 60 pupils could involve 10 sessions of 6 pupils, each consisting of 20-30 minutes. (Please note that a break (or multiple breaks) would be required throughout the day to ensure the VR equipment can be charged sufficiently.
What are the physical requirements for a virtual reality experience day?
The virtual reality setup consists of 6 wireless headsets that each require a minimum play space (roughly 2m²). This means that a simple large classroom or sports hall would be sufficient for the activity to take place.
Each play space includes a small mat (provided by the Planet VR team) to ensure pupils understand where the middle of their play space is located and can relocate it should they move too far from the centre.
Should your school require an entirely seated virtual reality experience, this is possible and will be tailored accordingly to suit your requirements.
What age group is the virtual reality experience for?
Planet VR’s school packages are designed as introductions to virtual reality technology for Key Stage 2 and early Key Stage 3 year groups (roughly 8-12 years of age).
There is no real age restriction for virtual reality gear. However, a minimum age of 8 years old is strongly recommended in order to comprehend the equipment and experiences presented during the visit.
Do you need to have previous experience using VR equipment?
The main idea behind Planet VR’s school packages is to allow pupils to experience virtual reality without schools being pressured into investing in costly VR equipment, training teachers on how to use it, and to cut down on expensive travel to venues.
All pupils will receive a tutorial on how to use the equipment from our Planet VR school team, who will also manage and monitor the sessions throughout the day, giving additional support and guidance where necessary.
In other words, you won’t need to lift a finger OR have any prior knowledge of virtual reality technologies!
We try to keep our prices as competitive as possible, and therefore aim to provide VR sessions for as many pupils as possible per day.
The prices below are a typical guide but can be altered should extra requirements be necessary…
